What we store

An item is a container, not a single piece of gear. A suitcase, a box, a storage bin, a ski bag, a boot bag or a bike each count as one item, and whatever is packed inside them travels as part of that item.

Two examples, because this is the number that picks your plan:

A ski bag with your skis, your poles and your helmet inside it is one item. Poles always count together with the skis, and a helmet packed in the bag does not count separately.

A helmet handed over loose, in nothing, is its own item. If it is not inside a bag or a bin we store it as its own piece, so it counts as one.

If you do not have a bag or a box, we lend you storage bins at no extra cost, which also keeps your item count down.

Each item has to stay under 60 lbs, and Rocket Closet cannot store food of any kind for safety reasons.

No. If you do not have a suitcase or a box, Rocket Closet lends you storage bins at no extra cost, and you do not need a ski bag for us to store your skis.

Yes. Rocket Closet was built for seasonal equipment that is hard to travel with, like skis, winter wardrobes and mountain bikes, and we also store golf bags, luggage and whatever else you want out of your garage.

All year. Your plan runs twelve months and your gear can stay with us the whole time, winter equipment and summer equipment alike.

Summer is a full season in these mountain towns, so many of our customers rotate: skis and winter wardrobe go in when the snow melts, mountain bikes and golf bags come out, and it swaps back in the fall.

The Rocket Closet app has an inventory of your closet. We photograph and upload every item when it comes in, so you pick what you want delivered from the app.

Each item is scanned with a QR code at pickup, so you can see where it is and what happened to it.

Pickup, delivery and scheduling

If you are within 50 miles of one of our base locations, we pick your gear up from you. If you are anywhere else, we send you a shipping label so you can send your items to us.

You schedule the pickup from the app or by calling us. We come to your doorstep and scan each item with a QR code, so it can be tracked from that moment on.

When you want your gear back you schedule a delivery in the app, and it arrives at your lodging with photo proof.

How it worksLink to this answer

It depends on where the gear is going. A pickup or a delivery inside your own base location needs 2 business days of notice. A delivery to a base location other than yours needs 7 business days. A national shipment, in either direction, needs 10 business days.

The first pickup, the one that starts your plan, is different: we usually take it the same day. Call the concierge and we arrange it.

You choose the day and the time in the app when you schedule the order.

Yes. Local pickups and deliveries include your base location and the areas near it.

Link to this answer

No. You do not need to be there for a pickup or a delivery, and that includes the first pickup. Leave your gear at your hotel, your Airbnb or wherever you are staying, and we pick it up from there.

Move it. Rocket Closet does not charge for rescheduling a pickup or a delivery.

Change it in the app or call the concierge. The new date has to meet the same notice window as the original one.

Your base location is where you use your equipment most often. Your gear lives near that mountain, which is what makes delivery fast and on time.

Shipping beyond your base

Yes. Rocket Closet ships within the United States and internationally through two partners, Luggage Forward and LugLess, depending on the destination.

Shipping is quoted per trip. The price depends on the number of pieces, the type of luggage (dimensions and weight), the insurance you want, and the destination.

Call 970 743 9996 and an agent gives you the exact number for your route.

Storage, insurance and where we operate

Yes, and which policy covers it depends on where it is. Inside our warehouses, and while it is in our hands during a pickup or a delivery, your gear is covered by Rocket Closet's own insurance. When it travels with one of our shipping partners, the partner's insurance covers that leg.

Rocket Closet buys the coverage on every order, including for customers who tell us they do not want it.

In climate controlled warehouses with camera coverage and controlled access, and it stays there all year.

We do not publish where those warehouses are, and that is deliberate: it is part of keeping your equipment safe. Each one sits close enough to the mountains it serves that your delivery arrives on the day and at the time you asked for.

No. Rocket Closet picks up, stores and delivers your gear. Waxing, edge work and repairs are not part of any plan, and a local shop is the right place for them.

If you need something handled before your next trip, ask your concierge when you schedule the delivery.
